Thuringia continue to upgrade fire vehicles to Sepura TETRA radios
German municipalities are moving ahead with the procurement of new TETRA digital radios for their fire brigades.
Following the signing of a contract with the federal government to allow the continued procurement of Sepura digital radios, German municipalities are moving ahead with the procurement of new TETRA digital radios for their fire brigades.
The city of Weimar is amongst these and has commenced the introduction of Sepura radios for its fire and rescue services, with 27 of its fire vehicles due to be upgraded to TETRA digital radios in 2018. District Fire Inspector, Steffen Schirmeron, confirmed that the fire department is co-ordinating with civil protection and ambulance services to ensure effective integration. The town of Bad Sulza is due to be the first fire department to benefit from the new technology.
Sepura's German partner, Selectric, is supporting and managing the upgrade and installation of the vehicles. This conversion and upgrade of radios is expected to continue up until 2021, eventually changing 200 vehicles to TETRA digital radio in Weimar alone.
