Supporting the Future of Public Safety with British APCO Bursary
Congratulations to Sepura’s Digital Marketing Manager, Amy Finch, who has been awarded the Ian Thompson Bursary by British APCO, the UK association for professionals using or developing public safety technology.
Amy is one of four recipients of the inaugural bursary, which celebrates and supports the development of individuals who are new to the public safety industry.
Applications were open to those in the first two or three years of working or studying in public safety critical communications, and a panel of judges selected worthy recipients from organisations across the industry, including Sepura and the NHS Ambulance Radio Programme.
"This is a brilliant opportunity to expand my knowledge of the changing critical communications industry and dig deeper into the thoughts, priorities and challenges of our users. Thank you to British APCO for the bursary, I look forward to working with you."
Amy Finch, Digital Marketing Manager, Sepura
The winners were announced at British APCO's Annual Event earlier this month and presented with a commemorative trophy to mark the occasion.
As part of the bursary, recipients will receive funding and access to public safety events worldwide to develop their knowledge and explore industry innovation and best practice. In the spirit of knowledge sharing, learning and findings will be fed back to British APCO and the wider UK public safety community.
“I’m delighted that the Association has been able to introduce these awards. Ian Thompson, our Chief Executive, who sadly passed away in 2020, was a real asset to this Association and left a positive mark on all those that met him. He was passionate about both critical communications and education, so this award will be a lasting tribute to his memory."
John Anthony, President, British APCO
