Sepura has today unveiled AppSPACE, an innovative applicationsenvironment for critical communications at Critical CommunicationsWorld (CCW), Berlin.
AppSPACE delivers added capabilities to the current generationof Sepura radios, which includes the SC20, SC21 and HTT-500-2hand-portables, and the MDT-500-2 mobile terminal. This provides amore flexible approach to providing customer-specific applicationsand enables firmware-independent deployment of bespoke applicationsto radios. Applications are deployed using Sepura's Radio Managerfleet management tool, ensuring that the process is simple, andcompleted in a cost- and time-effective manner.
A key feature of AppSPACE is its ability to support multipleapplications running concurrently - whether as a background task orthose which directly engage with fleet radio users. Alerts andnotifications ensure that both user and control room maintaincontinual awareness of critical information.
Sepura's, Peter Hudson, Products Director, said "Users often need to adjust their radiosbased on specific requirements in the field. The process for makingthese changes to radio functionality often involved longdevelopment cycles and waiting for major software upgrades for theradios. This upgrade cycle can potentially hinder mission criticalusers in keeping pace with technology, and functioning effectivelyin their roles. That's why we've developed AppSPACE, allowingcustomised applications to be added to the radios already in thefield without disrupting any critical TETRA communications."
AppSPACE allows rapid deployment of custom-designed solutionswhich meet specific end user requirements. This can be demonstratedin the delivery of application-based tools which automate manualprocesses and common critical tasks, ensuring that definedsituation-based operations are enforced on the radio. Examplesinclude radio location and geo-fencing, user health monitoring orautomatic switching to emergency talk groups.
Visit Sepura's stand (B40) at Critical Communications World(until the 17th May) to experience demonstrations ofAppSPACE including proximity tags, biometric devices and Bluetooth®beacons; and discuss the types of applications you could deploy tosupport for your users.
