Munich Underground Network Deploys Landmark Sepura Radio in Germany
The 500,000th Sepura TETRA radio has been deployed in Germany, for use on the Munich city underground rail network.
Stadtwerke München, operators of the Munich underground rail network, has been running a major project to renew its radio system. As part of this solution, network managers have selected Sepura’s German Partner SELECTRIC Nachrichten-Systeme GmbH to provide a fleet of over 1,800 SC20 TETRA hand-held radios and accessories for the network.
These include fist microphones and customised charging pods that have been developed specifically to meet customer specifications.
“Sepura products are known around the world as tough and reliable. We have achieved success in the world’s largest TETRA market by combining Sepura products with outstanding customer service to users in public safety and commercial organisations throughout the country. We look forward to continuing to support these customers in the future.”
Hendrik Pieper, Managing Director, SELECTRIC
As well as supplying Sepura products to Stadtwerke München, SELECTRIC has also managed the integration of the TETRA communication network into the existing control centre, programmed the Sepura radios, provided training for radio users and guided the deployment with extensive technical support.
The full transition into active operation is expected to occur at the end of 2023.
"We are proud to reach the landmark figure of half a million radios deployed in Germany. We are increasingly seeing commercial organisations with mission critical needs, such as Stadtwerke München, adopting Sepura radios and benefitting from the proven, robust design and flexible features that can be built around their operational needs. We look forward to continuing to provide German users with first-class communication solutions for many years to come."
